RYA Marine Radio (Short Range Certificate) Course
The RYA Marine Radio Short Range Certificate (SRC) is the minimum qualification required to operate marine VHF radio equipment on a UK flagged vessel. This one-day classroom based radio course teaches you how to operate a marine VHF radio fitted with DSC (Digital Selective Calling). You will also learn about the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System, which includes Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacons, Personal Locator Beacons and Search and Rescue Transponders/Transmitters. We use current radio equipment throughout our training course.
By the end of your day in the classroom you will have a good working knowledge of both VHF radio procedures and DSC.
Pass the short exam at the end of the course and you will qualify for your Short Range Certificate.
The course is 10 hours long with 3 hours being self study. The exam is at the end of the course.
Course price £65 and the exam is £60 payable to the RYA. You will need a passport sized photograph.
