Visit to Norman Lockyer Observatory, Sidmouth
The observatory has three telescopes under domes and a planetarium. It is a centre for amateur astronomy, meteorology, radio astronomy, and the promotion of science education. The visit is timed to start at 6.00pm so that we will have the chance to use the telescopes if the sky is clear. It is also during half-term week and children or grandchildren will be welcome. Minimum group size of 20 so please encourage all to attend.
The visit will last for 2 hours, we plan to reserve a table at a local pub for all those who wish to adjourn for supper afterwards (payment for this will be individually direct to the pub).
There are two car parks. One is along a track leading to The Longhouse and The Porters Lodge to the west of the site and is always open, the other is behind two pairs of normally locked double gates between the road and Observatory buildings.
