The Society has the following Membership categories:
- Ordinary Fellow £25 per year
- Family Fellow £12.50 per year one other adult living at the same address as an Ordinary Fellow.
- Senior Fellow £12.50 per year an Ordinary Fellow who has attained the age of sixty. Senior Fellows do not receive the Scottish Journal of Geology.
- Junior Associate (free, online membership with no paper mailings). Available to persons under 23 years of age at the beginning of the session of their admission or undertaking full-time education during the session of their admission.
- Glasgow Associate £12.50 per year Ordinary member of the Glasgow Geological Society.
