The Basic Assessment

The basic assessment is open to beekeepers who are fully paid up members of LBKA who have been keeping bees for 12 months or more.

The assessment at Leeds BKA is on Sunday 28th July 2019 and consists of a BBKA appointed assessor observing you conducting an inspection and asking a series of questions about beekeeping.

If you cannot make the date of the assessment but would be interested in taking the examination elsewhere in the Yorkshire region please let me know as I may be able to arrange this.

The cost of the basic assessment is £20 (paid to BBKA) however this is refunded by Leeds Beekeepers Association pending a pass (applies to LBKA Full or Family members only).

LBKA are here to facilitate the basic assessment, It is your responsibility as the student to make sure you know what is expected of you on the day.

The basic assessment will take place at the TempleNewsam apiary. Please book as soon as possible and at the latest by 15th May 2019 as several arrangements need to be made prior to the assessment.

Once you have booked a place for the assessment using Webcollect and sent the £20 payment to LBKA I will send you a BBKA application form to fill in, sign and return back to me. Note that the persons name on the BBKA Application form is the Area Association Examination Secretary i.e. the Yorkshire BKA Education Secretary, this is Elaine Robinson. I will send her address details when I send you the application form.
