RYA Powerboat Level 2 Course
This two-day course provides the skills and background knowledge needed to drive a powerboat and is the basis of the International Certificate of Competence. It includes close quarters handling, high speed manoeuvres, man overboard recovery and collision regulations.
Pre-course experience: None. May be preceded by Level 1
Assumed Knowledge: None
Course content:
All you need to know for self-sufficient power-boating at a basic level. Course includes launching, mooring, anchoring and recovery plus all the boat driving skills required for basic competence in a powerboat
Ability after course:
Self-sufficient power-boater in the right conditions: aware of own limitations and those of craft. Minimum age 14. Candidates under the age of 16 will be issued an endorsed certificate (exceptionally candidates may be accepted aged between 12 and 14 at our discretion, dependant on maturity please email secretary@largssc.co.uk for more information)
Each day the course will start at 9:15 am and will finish at approximately 4:30pm.
Please bring a packed lunch or make your own arrangements.
You will be given a copy of “RYA Start Powerboating” which you should keep with you as we will refer to it throughout the course.
What you will need
· Waterproofs
· Boots
· Warm clothing
· Gloves are recommended
· Buoyancy aid or Lifejacket
(the LSTA has a number of buoyancy aids that can be borrowed if needed)
Please note that you will need a passport size photograph for the qualification once you have passed the course.
