Cadets

Cadet sailing operates from Piddinghoe Lake on a Monday evenings 17:30 - 19:30 for 10 weeks in May, June and July.

To join the Monday evening cadets you must be a paid-up member of the sailing club.  The youngster must have achieved RYA Stage 2 or higher or be known to the Cadet Co-ordinator to be a competent sailor. Please choose the Cadet Group you wish to join which are shown in the events to the right of here (you can only see the events if you sign in to web collect).  Places are limited and once a group is full you will need to contact the Cadet coordinator (Andy) and request to be placed on the waiting list. cadetsnssc@nssc.org.uk

Optimist Coached Regatta Fleet

Can sail a simple racecourse and know what to do in a capsize. The cadets should be ready to discover racing and enjoy developing their competitive sailing skills.

Optimist Regatta Racing Fleet

Sailors are encouraged to own their own starter GRP optimist (support is offered in finding an appropriate boat if required). Ability to rig a boat independently is essential. Confidently sail a racecourse and show an interest in developing racing skills. Capsize and recover boat independently.

Optimist Main Race Fleet

Own or have access to a GRP race optimist and confidently sail a racecourse in moderate/strong wind strengths. Have a genuine interest in learning how to get the best performance from the boat and harness the competitive edge.

Topper Regatta Racing Fleet

X 10

Ability to rig a boat independently is essential. Confidently sail a racecourse and show an interest in developing racing skills. Capsize and recover boat independently.

Topper Main Race Fleet

X 10

Confidently sail around a triangular course in all wind strengths. Self-rescue a topper using dry and wet capsize methods. Have a genuine interest in learning how to get the best performance from the boat and harness the competitive edge.
