RYA Assistant Dinghy Instructor Course Spring 2022
This course is for our young competent sailors who are not yet old enough to do the RYA Dinghy Instructors course, and who wish to help with Cadets and RYA sailing courses in the summer.
Instructor Andy Barns at Piddinghoe BN9 9AF and is offered to Club members only,free of charge.
Dates Saturday 2nd April 9.00-4.00
Monday 4th April 4.00-8.00
Thursday 7th April 4.00-8.00
Saturday 23rd April 9.00-4.00
Maximum participants 6, Age 14+
What you need:
To be over 14 and a competent sailor.
Proficiency in one of the National Sailing Scheme Advanced Modules.
Recommended by the Principal of the Recognised Training Centre.
A copy of the RYA Instructors Handbook, G14.
You do not need to have First Aid, Powerboat handling or Safe and Fun.
What you will do:
The course is over 20 hours, run by the Club’s Senior Instructors in theory and practical sessions covering basic teaching principles, centre procedures and equipment.
Candidates will have an ongoing assessment, and be certificated by the Principal on recommendation by the Chief Instructor.
The successful candidate will assist qualified Dinghy Instructors under the supervision of a Senior Instructor, with teaching up to Adult Level 2 and Youth Sailing Stage 3.
The certificate is only valid at the centre providing the training and cannot be used at another centre.
