Dart New Year weekend   iCal entry for this event

A tradition is born as this is the fourth time we organise this New Year's paddle! Here is a chance to start the New Year off paddling some of the best water in the Country.

We will be based at the Pengelly Centre at Buckfastleigh. This is a tried and tested venue for us and is in a great location for access to the River Dart.

This year the paddling emphasis is slightly different. We ask you to help and share your knowledge of canoeing and sailing down the rivers! Some would like a coach to help them, others are happy to paddle down with a group and enjoy the day!

We will welcome small groups wanting to work together in a supported environment and would like to give opportunities for those working towards Canoe Leader (4*) assessment to practise leading a small group.

Suitably experienced paddlers may prefer to try other local rivers if conditions allow. If you are new to independent canoeing we can support your planning and preparation.

If you fancy exploring the area on foot, there are plenty of walking or cycling opportunities. A visit to the Zoo is possible.

After the festive season has taken its toll on all our wallets we want to make this weekend as reasonably priced as possible. Catering is also included in the price so you don’t have to worry about cooking. You’ll just need to provide snacks and your lunch for the two days.

If you're local or want to arrange your own accommodation then just book day tickets and join us on the day.

BONUS! We have arranged with Craig from Marsport to bring some demos boats! The plan is to do a real tryout, not just a bit of floating! Take them from Austin bridge to the get off at rock garden. Then go again but with a loaded boat or another model!
