Indian Summer 2018 - Full Event   iCal entry for this event

We are returning again to Biblins Youth Campsite near Ross-on-Wye. Local rule changes have had an impact. Please note that DOGS ARE NOT ALLOWED. This is a change that we know will impact some people. The rules however relating to adults needing to be accompanied by young people, does not now apply. This means that we can welcome anyone to the event. As it’s over half term we hope it will attract families with children and we will be tailoring lots of the activities to keep children young and old busy.

We hope that all those who come are willing to share their expertise and knowledge to others in the canoeing community, helping and showing, to make this event special. Four days of beautiful scenery, paddling the river, sitting around the campfire and cooking, walking, learning, skills, doing what inspires you. We can help and guide you to make, whatever you do safe and enjoyable. How to make a shelter, set up a bivouac, developing your skills, planning, what to take on your trip, food, first aid, traditional boating skills, navigation and leave no trace, are just some random examples you can expect.

The weather can be unpredictable, so come prepared for all possibilities. The clocks will change this weekend so the evenings will get dark even earlier.

Bring your own (paddling) equipment and camping gear, including buoyancy aid and helmet. Boats need to be fitted with some kind of buoyancy. Campfires are allowed only in altar fires, raised from the ground for individual cooking. Camping only... however small camper-vans are allowed on the hard surface, no awnings! Toilet paper, light/torch and chair. Space for parking is a bit limited. We have the sole use of Herf’s Barn during the event.

We will be catering for the organisers and coaches. In addition we can cater for up to 20 extra people at an additional cost of £52 for whole event or £13 per day. Most days food will consider breakfast, lunch and dinner, coffee, tea or squash. We will ask people taking up this offer to help with preparation and cleaning and bring their own plate, bowl, cup and cutlery. (Also bring your own snacks and drinks) The meals will be simple like a sausage casserole, chilli etc. If you have questions or dietary requirements please contact us before booking.
