Managing Major Hazards - PSM auditing & benchmarking   iCal entry for this event

"Managing Major Hazards - PSM auditing & benchmarking"

Speaker: Glenn Pettitt PhD CEng FIChemE. Professional Process Safety Engineer.

Synopsis:

Major accidents leading to significant losses are caused by a range of technical, organisational, cultural and human performance factors.  Auditing is an important tool in assessing the resilience of sites with respect to major accidents.  However such audit protocols will necessarily be constrained in their scope to a limited number of items, such as fire protection, asset integrity management etc.  PSM frameworks such as CCPS provide a way of looking at organisations across a range of activities, equipment and organisational factors.  ERM apply a tool which allows organisations to assess overall PSM maturity and to highlight areas within which require strengthening within the safety management system.  Performance is benchmarked against an industry recognised risk-based process safety framework such as developed by CCPS.

Speaker Biography:

Glenn is a Chartered Chemical Engineer in the ERM M&A practice based in London; he has over 30 years' experience in risk assessment and safety and reliability studies, using an integrated approach to people, property and the environment.  Glenn's projects have included risk assessments and safety/environmental studies for refineries and downstream plant, storage facilities and cross-country pipelines world-wide.  More recently, Glenn has focused on conducting due diligence audits for M&A Projects.
