Offshore Wind Turbine Foundations - Constraints, Options, Risks and Trends
"Offshore Wind Turbine Foundations: Constraints, Options, Risks and Trends"
Speaker: George Walker, Arup
Synopsis:
With renewable energy reaching critical mass globally, the insurance community needs to keep ahead of the risks and loss potential that these installations provide. This presentation will outline the issues which govern the selection, design and through life operation of offshore WTG foundations and describe how these issues are managed. It may come as a surprise to find out that the foundations for wind turbine generators (WTGs) are one of the most expensive parts of an offshore wind farm and also the only component that cannot be replaced.
Speaker Biography:

He has a broad range of experience in design and advanced analysis of offshore structures worldwide.
