Chair's Welcome

I would like to welcome you to Wansbeck Paddle Sports Club. We are a very friendly and inclusive club based at the Ashington Sea Cadet Unit on the River Wansbeck.  We offer a wide range of paddling activity catering for a comprehensive spectrum of disciplines.

We pride ourselves on having a large stock of equipment which includes Open Canoes, Sea Kayaks, White Water Kayaks, Sit on Tops and SUP's. We have a large selection of wetsuits, buoyancy aids, helmets and cags.  This means that we are able to welcome complete novices to the club without them having to buy lots of expensive equipment. 

Now that the summer season is upon us we are able to resume our Wednesday evening sessions, although still staying covid safe by only having booked sessions and smaller group sizes.

The Wednesday sessions are an opportunity to try out different paddle sport disciplines from SUP to River Kayak. Sea kayaking has been a major activity over the last two years and we hope to deliver more sessions for this discipline as well. The summer months allow us to cater for those new to paddling by running sheltered water training courses. These will lead to paddlers developing their skills to move onto the moving water environment as conditions and seasons change. .

We try to keep costs to members low and our membership subscriptions represent excellent value for money.  Day trips organised by our coaches are £6 a day. Multi day trips are also a great way to get the most of travelling to venues and the club expedition on the Great Glen Canoe trail is an excellent example of what we can do.

There is also a Facebook and Instagram page. We are always open to ideas and suggestions and all members are welcome to attend committee meetings which are usually held every two months.
