Welcome to Yorkshire Mountaineering Club

Membership

The club offers a program of walking meets year round. During the winter a group of members meet up weekly at one of the local climbing walls, moving to climbing outdoors during the summer months. We also arrange weekend hut meets to the various mountain areas of the UK and overseas, as well as to our hut in the Coniston Coppermines valley in the Lake Distict. So anyone with an interest in mountaineering - be it rock climbing, scrambling, hillwalking or summit bagging in the world's great mountain ranges, will find like-minded people within the Yorkshire Mountaineering Club.

Everyone joins the club as an Aspirant member and we offer several categories of membership depending on your circumstances. As an Aspirant member you'll be able to attend all our meets. You'll be able to reserve a bunk at the Coniston hut for club meets and you'll be able to make use of the hut at other times, but only if accompanied by a full member.

Once you've attended several meets you'll be able to apply to be a full member - a full member application form is available to download from the club website. To be considered for full membership you'll need to be proposed and seconded by two full members before your application can be submitted to the club committee for approval.

Once you're a full member you'll be able to apply for your own personal key for the Coniston hut, subject to payment of a refundable deposit and having visited the hut on a club meet - preferably a work meet.
