Welcome to Waveney Valley Canoe Club

Courses are for WVCC members.  It's all about learning and improving your paddling skills, developing confidence on the water and paddling safely. But most of all becoming a better paddler is all about having fun!

WVCC deliver courses according to British Canoeing's Personal Performance AwardsThese awards are designed for paddlers wanting to gain recognition of their learning and development, in whatever craft and environment they choose.  The process of completing the awards is based on learning and, as such, the ethos of ‘supporting the paddler’ is the main focus of all the awards, with WVCC coaches supporting each student with their individual development.

The are two levels of Personal Performance Awards:

There are three Paddle Awards: The Paddle Start award is designed to encourage paddlers who are getting into a boat for the first time. The Paddle Discover and Paddle Explore  Awards enable paddlers to advance and hone their skills in sheltered water.

The Discipline Specific Awards are designed for paddlers who want to progress beyond sheltered water in their chosen discipline or craft.

Each Discipline Specific Award has three levels.
1.     Discipline Award (e.g. Touring Award)
2.     Progressive (e.g Progressive Touring Award)
3.     Advanced (e.g. Advanced Touring Award)

The awards provide appropriate milestones and acknowledgement of personal skills, developing paddlers towards taking British Canoeing Coaching and Leadership qualifications.

All WVCC courses are led by qualified coaches, assisted by experienced paddlers. The club has a large stock of boats, buoyancy aids and paddles to suit everyone, and the cost of using these is included in your membership.

Remember to bring a towel and a change of dry clothes.  Showers are available in the Riverside Centre.
