Club Night - Family, Later & Trial Sessions   iCal entry for this event

We meet every Thursday night throughout the year to paddle on the River Soar, a canalised river with some fun weirs. These sessions are a combination of social paddling and coaching in a safe, friendly environment for adults and juniors. We socialise in the Riverside room after the session, where you can meet more like minded people and get to know about upcoming trips and events. Tea, Coffee and hot showers are included.

You can choose to paddle a huge range of boats including canoes, kayaks, sit-on tops and Stand-Up Paddleboards (SUPs). We welcome people of all abilities and have boats and equipment to fit all ages, shapes and sizes. Don't worry if you have never done it before, we will have you on the water, confident and having fun before you know it.

Minimum age is 5 years old. Under 8s must be accompanied in the boat by a parent\adult until the coach is happy that the junior is able to enjoy the session.

Visitors are welcome for up to 3 trial or taster sessions, before joining as a member (from £25 per year). This is a condition of our insurance with British Canoeing.

Family session (April to October)

6.15pm - 7.30pm(ish)

Geared towards younger paddlers and families, however it is open to all. Sessions are relaxed but based around the British Canoeing awards scheme and are a fun way to learn key kayak and canoe skills. Parents must stay on site whilst their child is on the water, or even better come on the water with us!

From November to March we provide off-water activities such as climbing, abseiling and archery, these will be available to book later on.

Later session (All year round):

7pm – 9pm (or later)

Geared towards adults but open to all.

Dependant on the crowd we will travel up or down stream to the various weirs, focus on skills at the centre or on the first Thursday of the month we run a minibus shuttle to allow a longer paddle back down to the club or from the club to the pub.

What do you need?

The club provides boats, paddles, buoyancy aids and helmets where required, but you will need to bring suitable clothing to paddle in and a change of clothes in case you get wet. See our website for a full list of what you need.
