River Wye 2019
The trip is open to holders of the BC Paddle Explore or Two Star award (including trainees) and good training for BC White Water Award paddlers and will be held on the River Wye close to Symonds Yat in Herefordshire. We will be travelling on Friday evening by minibus or private cars (approx. 3 hours journey time) and should arrive around 10.30pm. We will be based at Biblins campsite just downstream from Symonds Yat, staying in tents. If you do not have a tent, we can supply one. We will supply full catering from Saturday breakfast to Sunday lunch.
We can provide kayaks, paddles, wetsuits, spray decks, cagoules and helmets. Kit lists will be provided for all participants. We will split up into small groups and do a river trip and have planned that each group will practice moving water skills on the rapids. All activities are very dependent on weather and river conditions and we cannot guarantee that you will be able to use the rapids.
At Symonds Yat, the river narrows past an island and down the rapids, where we will be able to practice breaking in, breaking out and ferry gliding. This is an exciting trip with plenty of experiences for all levels of paddlers and backed up by a team of coaches to ensure you get the most from your trip. So good, we go there twice!
After lunch on Sunday, we will be returning to the Phoenix Canoe Club and should arrive around 5/6pm. The cost for the trip is £70 juniors / £75 seniors, which includes transport, campsite and launch fees, Saturday and Sunday catering, use of club equipment and coaching.

Minimum Ability Level: Paddle Explore / 2 Star (including trainees) with 2 hours low level whitewater experience
Equipment: Free use of Club gear and boats or use your own suitable equipment. You should have your own thermal clothing.
