RYA Safety Boat Courses 2022
This two-day course provides the skills required when acting as an escort craft, safety boat or coach boat for a fleet of dinghies, windsurfers, or canoes & kayaks for racing or training activities. This highly practical course looks at good practice and safe & efficient rescue techniques.
Course Content Includes:
- Preparation
- boat handling & positioning
- dinghy rescue techniques
- windsurfer rescue techniques
- kayak or canoe rescue techniques
- towing of various craft
- lee-shore recovery
- end-of-day procedures
- suitability of safety craft
- local factors
- communication
- recovering people from the water
After the course you should be able to provide safety or support cover to a range of craft, particularly sailing or windsurfing.
Minimum requirements:
RYA Powerboat Level 2 minimum
Basic knowledge of sailing/windsurfing activities
Age 16 +
