Powerboat handling covers low and high speed manoeuvring of a powered craft. We teach this in our two powerboats, a 50hp RIB (rigid inflatable boat) and 20hp Dory (a fibreglass hulled planing boat).
Level 1 is aimed at juniors, whilst Level 2 is aimed at older children and adults. The Safety boat course is aimed at those who already have Level 2 and are likely to be engaged in safety cover for water-based events.
The Level 2 course (PB2) teaches boat handling and seamanship in powerboats. It covers launch and recovery, boat handling, safety, securing to a buoy, anchoring, leaving and coming alongside and man-over-board. RYA PB2 meets the entry requirements of the RYA Dinghy Instructor qualification. RYA Safety Boat meets the requirements of the RYA Senior Instructor qualification. A PB2 certificate can also be converted to an International Certificate of Competence (ICC) via the RYA.
You will receive joining instructions a few days before the course, explaining what to bring and what to wear.
