"Big Paddle Clean Up" event - 6th June River Hull at Tickton
Saturday 6th June 2026.
An easy paddle to participate in the Paddle UK “Big Paddle Clean Up”. After a briefing and distribution of litter pickers/bags etc we will put in under the road bridge at Tickton. We will slowly head south along the river on the outskirts of Beverley. There are many boat moorings along this stretch and there may be some boat traffic. A full safety briefing for the litter picking element will be provided on the day.
Paddlers may be split into groups depending on craft being used. We will paddle towards Weel collecting any litter found in the river or on the bank that is within easy reach of the water and storing it in bags in the most appropriate means for the craft being used. If canoes are used these can be utilised as collection stations as we progress.
When we reach Weel we will turn around and slowly progress back to the start point, again collecting litter as we go. At the end of the paddle all collected litter will be weighed, photographed and fed back to Paddle UK for publicity purposes.
Debrief and refreshments can be arranged in the Crown and Anchor pub at 13.00hrs.
