Welcome to Seafarers Sailing Club

Seafarers Sailing Club is an RYA Training Centre and as such we are inspected annually. We use both single and double handed club boats.
All of our instructors are volunteers and all courses are run outside of normal working hours. This allows us to make the training very cost effective. Our focus is on novice and improver sailing courses, but they are also suitable for sailors who just want a refresher. We strive to make our courses fun, accessible and inclusive.
Our Courses:
- RYA Youth Sailing Scheme stages (1 & 2) and (3 & 4)
- RYA Start Sailing & Basic Skills (adults) Levels 1 & 2
- RYA Start Racing
- Better Sailing (Level 3)
- RYA Seamanship Skills
- RYA Day Sailing
Each year we run an RYA Start Sailing & Basic Skills course plus Youth Sailing Schemes. These consist of an introductory evening at the club followed by three whole weekends, a fortnight apart, of practical instruction and theory during May and June.
Start Racing and Better Sailing Level 3 are aimed at members who have at least 1 full season’s sailing experience after completing a Level 2 course or equivalent and would like to start/improve their sailing/racing techniques. The course will consist of theory and practical sessions and will normally take place in August. depending on demand and availability of volunteers.
Occasionally Seamanship Skills or Day Sailing courses may be run if required and requested by a number of club members.
There is also an RYA Power Boat Level 2 course for club members who are required to carry out Patrol Boat Duties and other essential sailing support roles.
