Overnight Cruise
The annual "Seafarers Overnight Cruise" returns to the Isle of Wight this year.
A large area, with enough room for 15 sailors to set up camp, at Corf Camp has already been reserved. Extra spaces will be booked as required. Corf Camp is a Scout Camp in beautiful surroundings at the end of Newtown Creek, IOW. It is a short country walk to the New Inn in Shalfleet. There is a more adventurous walk to Yarmouth.
This destination has proved to be a big hit for the Seafarers Cruisers in the past, so if you fancy a relaxed dinghy cruising weekend, to a mini holiday destination, book up now!
Provisional Itinerary:
Day 1. (Friday 26th August) - cruise over to the Isle, with evening meal at the local village pub (if you fancy)
Day 2. (Saturday 27th August) - full English breakfast, then the choice is yours, maybe a walk along the shore or another cruise
Day 3. (Sunday 28th August) - bacon/sausage buttys for breakfast before cruising home when the tide allows
If you do not consider your own dinghy to be suitable for cruising, you can still come along, as room will be available in another boat. Alternatively, sign up a club boat for the weekend? First come, first served! (If unsure, call or email the Cruising Secretary to discuss).
Hopefully, we will have a volunteer to take a car with the majority of the camping gear, but we advise you to consider carefully before packing the kitchen sink, alongside your swimming attire, as we can only get so much stuff in one car (or Wayfarer!).
At this time we are asking for a commitment to go by booking a place. Once you have booked you will be committed to paying a £10 deposit per person.
The deposit will cover:
1. One place for the weekend at the camp site
2. Partial contribution to the cost of food (one full English breakfast, one evening meal)
3. Room in the vehicle to have some of your gear transported via car/ferry to the campsite
4. A memorable weekend (priceless)
Notes:
A planning meeting will be held prior to the event.
Final costs will be dependent upon numbers attending etc.
