Sailing Level 2 Course   iCal entry for this event

Scammonden Water Sailing Club

Sailing Level 2 course.

Course Background

Our 2 day RYA Level Two Course (also know as Better Skills) builds on the knowledge gained during the Level 1 course  It is the first part of the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) training scheme and its aim is to ensure successful sailors will be safety conscious, have a basic knowledge of sailing and be competent in light / medium winds with a range of dinghies and without an instructor. As part of this course you will be introduced to manoeuvring the craft as well as sailing it around a larger course. During the course, you will learn all the key skills required to get afloat without supervision in light and medium winds in a Single or Double Handed dinghy. We use a mix of Laser Pico’s and Wayfarer dinghies on our courses.

The RYA Level Two course is not designed for beginners and it is expected that you will have successfully completed a Level One course in advance.

What you will need

On the first day, we would ask if you can arrive at the club by around 9:30am with a view to starting the course from 9:45am.

Our Instructors will provide you with a safety briefing and explain the course content on the morning of the course. We will be ordering and providing you with course work book and certificates on the day.
