RYA Level 2: Dinghy Sailing   iCal entry for this event

Tynemouth Sailing Club will be running an RYA2 Basic Skills sailing course on July 1st , July 8th & July 15th

The course is intended to build on the skills learnt in RYA 1 so that by the end of it in fine weather you should be able to launch a dinghy, go for a sail and get back safely. The course has some background theory but the emphasis is on you practising sailing. The course is normally taught in Enterprise dinghies with 2 students and an Instructor in each boat. Single-handed Lasers and Toppers may also be used.

Course Selection:

In the event of being oversubscribed TSC  reserve the right to select candidates on the basis of those who have attended “tasters”, those who are applying to do both courses and those who in the opinion of TSC are most likely to become long term club members. In the event of non selection any payment will be returned. We hope you will understand that the club’s primary objective in running courses has always been to recruit members ; we don’t charge commercial centre rates.

Risk Statement

Tynemouth Sailing Club is a Royal Yachting Association Recognised Training Centre and is externally inspected annually. It is also licensed by the Adventure Activities Licensing Service. Your Push The Boat Out “taster” session will be supervised by an RYA qualified Senior Instructor and your skipper will be a qualified instructor or sailor of equivalent expertise.

Sailing is a safe sport but has the obvious hazards of deep cold water , at Tynemouth nearby rocks and pier and the moving parts of a boat. TSC has documented Risk Assessments and Operating Proceedures to keep you as safe as possible and a Safety Boat will be in attendance.

Insurance

TSC is insured under a policy which meets RYA Club Insurance requirements including Sail Training Indemnity. TSC, TSC Volunteers, RYA Coaches, RYA Senior instructors or RYA Instructors do not accept responsibility for any loss, damage or injury suffered by persons and/or their property arising out of or during the course of their activities whilst training and/or coaching and/or instructing unless such injury loss or damage was caused by, or resulted from negligence or deliberate act.
