At WBRC we pride ourselves on being an inclusive club and we encourage all our members to represent us at competitions, regardless of where they are in their training and competing journey. We don't hold team selections and will enter every person who puts themselves forwards. See the list below for a few key points for competing at BRC competitions:
- Area qualifiers are competitions where riding clubs from the local area compete against each other in various disciplines. The aim is to have fun in a friendly and supportive environment, but also to qualify for national championships.
- The club will enter teams made up of four riders or can also enter individuals. When completing your entry on Webcollect it is important to specify if you have a preference. Both teams and individuals are able to qualify for championships.
- Entries for qualifiers will close 21 days before the competition as this is the date by which the team manager must submit preliminary entries to BRC HQ. At this point WBRC will pay a fee to BRC HQ for every entry submitted (this is NOT covered by the entry fee paid by the rider but is an additional cost covered by WBRC).
- Once preliminary entries are submitted the team manager will start to formulate teams. Teams are put together based on known experience, recent competition results and general knowledge about the horse and rider. We aim to put together riders of a similar standard and experience however, dependant on the number of entries and the type of competition, this can sometimes be more difficult than said! Also due to this we're unfortunately not able to consider requests to be on a specified team with other specific people. If there is any experience or other information that you want the team manager to be aware of please ensure that you add it to your entry form on Webcollect.
- Closer to the date of the competition another round of entries will be submitted by the team manager - this time to the show secretary. This is when WBRC will forward your entry payment to the hosting club.
- We all know that horses are unpredictable creatures and due to this there'll often be requests for reserves to fill spaces that have come available. Look out for these on Facebook or by email. Teams are not set in stone until one hour before the competition starts as this is the time that your team manager will submit 'declarations' to the show secretary. This means that team formats can change even after the competition timings have been released in the days leading up to the competition.
- On the day of the competition all riders will be required to show their horse's passports for proof of vaccination and also their hats to show they they have been tagged to verify they are to the required safety standard.
- Then the only thing left to do is go out there and try your best, have fun and support your fellow WBRC members. :)
