IN-HAND CLASSICAL DRESSAGE

with the Enlightened Horse and Rider Trainer - Anneliese Gillett

For all levels of horse and rider - from unbroken to advanced horses, from new horse owners to fully established

Stage 1 - In-hand foundations and relaxation of the jaw

Stage 2 - Basic dressage movements in hand

Stage 3 and beyond - preparing for more advanced dressage movements such as travers and half pass and ridden work.

Individual sessions will be tailored to you and your horse.

Anneliese was born in Germany and grew up in South Africa where she competed in dressage up to Advanced Medium, although trained her rescued TB to Prix St.Georges level. During this time she trained under two German classical dressage masters. She then became a pupil of Veronika Buehne, a fully licensed teacher of the great french classical master Phillippe Karl and his School of Legerete (lightness) http://www.philippe-karl.com/

During this time she also started to study and use the groundwork methods of Klaus Ferdinand Hempfling http://www.hempfling.com/.  This groundwork teaches individuals to achieve true leadership over their horses whilst respecting them for who and what they are. Once this is in place other handling problems fade away, yet the horses never loose their individuality or spirit. Combining this with the in-hand work from classical masters achieves incredible results on the ground before ridden work is even attempted and helps horses already being ridden to achieve lateral work easily and quickly, corrects and achieves true bend and the correct frame.  By using this method the horses become relaxed, soft in the jaw and supple in the neck and thereby eventually straight, which is the most difficult requirement to achieve, without it we never have true balance. Anyone can achieve all of this with only a simple snaffle if you have the correct knowledge.

Anneliese also is a BHS Accredited Coach and has now been teaching for over 35 years and can testify that these methods bring incredible and lasting results.

• Improve your horses engagement by developing suppleness and strength
• To allow your horse to better support the rider
• Work towards true self-carriage by strengthening the core

These are all excellent ways to develop a stronger bond between horse and handler or handler.

The fun and friendly one hour clinics will be run in small groups (max 4).

HORSE AGILITY

with Ingrid from Berkshire Horse Agility

Horse Agility is a growing equestrian discipline and sport, with monthly competitions run under the rules of The International Horse Agility Club.

Horse Agility was inspired by the popular sport of Dog Agility. Horse Agility competitions comprise of equine (horse, pony, donkey, mule) and handler completing a set course of 10 obstacles, with time limits imposed at the higher levels of competition. Horse Agility is scored, a little bit like dressage, with a test sheet, where a maximum of 10 points is awarded for each of the 10 obstacles. Five of the available points are awarded on correct technical completion of the obstacle and the other 5 points are awarded on the relationship between the equine and its handler. Horse Agility is the only equestrian discipline where competitions are scored partly on the relationship the handler has with his/ her equine.

With the exception of Equagility, Horse Agility is dedicated to those people who want to have fun with and also compete their equine from the ground. This can be either On Line, using a headcollar and a lead rope that is at least 12 feet long; or it can be at Liberty, where the equine is directed around the obstacles using only the handler's voice and/ or body language. For the very adventurous, there is even Wild Horse Agility, no, not Horse Agility with Wild Horses! but Horse Agility in a natural landscape setting, rather than inside an arena.

The Horse Agility Club is an international organisation with members in countries across Europe, North America, Canada and Australasia; it promotes the competitive side of Horse Agility by standardising the rules of competition.
