Welcome to Waveney Valley Canoe Club

Taster Sessions

As an introduction to the club, WVCC offers potential members a taster session.

Winter Sessions

Between October and March these are held at the Archbishop Sancroft High School, 9 Wildeness Lane, Harleston IP20 9DD on Sunday evenings 5:30-6:30pm twice each month.

Summer Sessions

During the summer (May to September) these are held on the River Waveney at the Riverside Centre, Staithe St, Bungay, NR35 1BF on Thursday evening at 6pm or on specific days on some weekends.

Everyone is welcome to book a taster session. You do not have to be a member but you must book in advance. Following your taster session, if you would like to become a club member, please apply via the website.

Advance booking is essential -  do not turn up without booking your place as you will not be able to paddle.

At all taster sessions, coaches & experienced paddlers will be on hand to tell you more about the club and its facilities, advise you about training courses and provide safety cover whilst you are on the water.

We will provide kayaks and all the equipment you will need.

For river-based sessions

You will need to bring clothes suitable for kayaking: a wet-suit is ideal, but long sleeved T shirt, swimming trunks/costume, leggings or lightweight trousers are just as good.  Don't wear jeans or sweatshirts or clothes which hold water and weigh you down if you capsize. Beach shoes, deck shoes or plimsolls are suitable footwear.   Bring a towel and dry clothes for when you come off the water.  There are changing room facilities at the Riverside Centre.

For pool-based sessions

You will need to bring clothes suitable for kayaking in a pool (e.g. a T shirt and swimming trunks/costume plus shorts or sports leggings) along with a towel and dry clothes for when you come off the water.  There are changing room facilities at the pool.
