Getting Started
The objective of these sessions are to provide an opportunity for younger sailors aged between 8 and 17 to learn the basics of sailing in a safe and supportive environment. Each week under the guidance of experienced sailors the sailors are be given the opportunity to sail and develop at their own pace. The syllabus is based around RYA Stages 1 and 2.
The club provides the use of a dinghy, safety helmet and buoyancy aid; however the sailors will need clothing suitable for the conditions. The sessions will sail either singly or in pairs in the clubs Topper or Pico dinghy's.
The session run from 2pm and 4pm on a Sunday and the costs are
- Club Members - £15 per week
- Non Members - £20 per week
It is recommended that you book the 4 (ideally contiguous) sessions at the same time. Note - when booking, if you are paying the non-member price, do NOT add a joining fee when prompted to do so, but tick the box to say that you have, as it is included in the non-member price.
Sailors who have achieved RYA Stage 2 or equivalent have a number of opportunities to progress as club member of one or more of the youth groups, detail of which can be found here.
Weir wood Sailing Club is committed to safeguarding children taking part in its activities and has written policies and procedures for instructors and parents, which can be found here |
