Cenotaph Ceremony   iCal entry for this event

The Belgian Cenotaph Parade is an annual event which takes place in London in July. Elements of the Belgian Armed Forces participate in an armed parade from the Cenotaph, through Whitehall and Horse Guards Parade, to the Guards Memorial.

Belgium is the only country outside the Commonwealth of Nations which is able to parade its soldiers, armed and in uniform, through London. The event takes place on the Saturday preceding Belgian National Day on 21 July.

 THE BELGIAN CENOTAPH PARADE

This event is not organised by the Society, but members are encouraged to come and watch (in the general public). A representative of the Anglo-Belgian Society lays a wreath during the parade.

As it tends to draw quite a crowd, we’ll be gathering early at 10:00am, in front of Richmond House (79 Withehall), and will wait until the parade begins at 11:00am.

Afterwards, all are welcome to continue the occasion over lunch at 12:00pm at the Old Queen Street Café (SW1H 9HP). Each guest is kindly asked to order and pay for their own meal. If members do not manage to meet beforehand at the parade, we suggest gathering at the lunch venue. To help us reserve the appropriate number of places at the restaurant, please confirm your attendance (subject to restaurant availability).
