“The Aesthetic Movement and Arts and Crafts: their relationship”
a Lecture by Dr Hilary Underwood
Aestheticism and Arts and Crafts were two of the most significant movements in late nineteenth century British architecture and design, even affecting the fine arts. William Morris was important to both. The first was at its height around 1880, the second in the 1890s. Bud how did they relate? Are their continuities or are their differences more important?
Dr Hilary Underwood is a Victorian art specialist, a member of the Watts Gallery curatorial team for over thirty years and a regular lecturer.
