RYA Basic Skills Level 2 course
In 2025 we will run this course over either 4 evenings at Loch of Skene or over a weekend at Peterhead, using our wayfarer dinghies.
The emphasis is on improving your confidence & independence (ie. sailing solo, no instructor on board). This course will build on all the skills learned during the RYA level 1 course. It is essential to have some prior dinghy sailing experience such as an RYA Start Sailing Level 1 or some personal sailing to a similar level before coming on this course. An alternative option if you haven't got any dinghy experience would be to do our Combined 5 day RYA Level 1 & 2 Course. We'll cover launch and recovery, manoeuvring your dinghy, sailing more efficiently, and we'll include trying to sail your boat around a triangle course independently. In addition it has more theory about tides and weather to give you the knowledge to make good decisions about going sailing.
Best for ages 14-adult.
Please note, if the dates don't suit, we may be able to put on a course for you with dates to suit as long as we have a minimum if two people.
On successful completion of your course, your name, certificate number and date of completion will be stored for up to 7 years. This information allows us to verify or replace your certificate if required.
RYA Logbooks: If you have a RYA logbook, please bring it with you so we can update progress. If you haven't we will supply one.
