Basic Skills, RYA Level 2
The RYA L2 course builds on the fundamentals of RYA L1. Pupils will be aware of sail setting, boat trim, balance and the best course to sail. They will be aware of Lee shore dangers and the ‘rules of the road’ and know how to recover a capsized boat.
This course is also suitable for under-18 sailors who wish to complete level 3 of the RYA youth scheme in dinghies.
You do need to be able to sail competently to L1 standard as a pre-requisite for this course. This means being comfortable sailing a single-handed dinghy such as a Pico. If in any doubt or if you have not sailed regularly since taking a L1 course then please contact us to discuss your options.
Following the course, students should be able to sail unsupervised in light winds.
Please note that the £50 deposit (or the first £50 if paid in full) is non-refundable. We have reluctanctly had to implement this following a high number of last-minute cancellations to courses where we had already committed resources.
There is no charge if you have been given a gift-voucher for a course.

This is a RYA accredited course however you do not need to be a RYA member to participate.
