RYA - Learn to Wingsurf (Beginners) (3 Hours)
Activity Overview
This introductory course gives you the foundations of wingsurfing in a fun and supportive environment. No prior experience is needed, just enthusiasm to get on the water and try something new. The course is split into two key parts: flying the wing ashore and then getting afloat to put it into practice.
By the end, you will have the essential skills to harness the power of the wing, balance on the board, and sail across the wind. You will also learn how to gybe and return to your starting point with confidence.
What you’ll learn
- Ashore - Learn about the Equipment then practise Wing Care & Basic Controls
- Understand how to translate wind power into forward motion
- Afloat – Learn Self Rescue, Sailing Across the Wind
- Introduction to a Basic Turn (Gybe), to turnaround and return to your start point.
* Briefing on Wing & Board Handling during recovery by power boat.
This is a 3 hour course - Start 09.30 Finish 12.30. Max 6 people per course.
Please arrive 20 mins prior to start to allow time to Check In, confirm Health Declarations and change prior to start of the activity.
Prerequisite: Confident in the water , ideally swim 25m
Youths – min 15 years old
What to Bring:
- An old pair of trainers that you don’t mind getting wet, or wetsuit boots/shoes
- Swim wear for underneath a wetsuit.
- Suitable clothing for over a wetsuit for standing outside in.
- A towel & swimwear
- Your own wetsuit– sorry we don’t provide these ( full legs, spring/autumn 3mm+ neoprene, summer 2mm+ neoprene)
- Lunch & Drink (No catering on Saturdays & not every Sunday)
