RYA Youth 4 day Course  

This learn to sail course is available to junior members and prospective members of Chelmarsh Sailing Club. The course is intended for complete beginners aged 8 to 16 years and is taught using the club’s training fleet of Hartley 10 Pico and Topper dinghies by RYA Qualified Instructors. Instructor ratio maximum 1:6

The course is 4 day duration and will cover RYA Stage 1 and 2 of the RYA Youth Sailing Scheme Syllabus. With a continuous 4 day course we often also achieve Stage 3. The RYA Go Sailing! Course Book and the RYA National Sailing Scheme Log Book will be provided for all trainees, along with RYA Certificate of completion for those who successfully complete the course. Following the course you should have a basic understanding of how a boat sails and some experience of steering and handling the boat.

Parents/Guardians must remain on site during the course but do not need to sail they can assist instructors, or enjoy some peace in our clubhouse! A responsible person or guardian must remain on site during the course. Those who choose could also do an adult sailing course.

Participants will need to become club members to join the course, this is a minimum of 3 months membership. If you are not already a member of Chelmarsh Sailing Club please select the option for course with 3 month membership package, options for membership will be discussed on the course. Note for family groups it is advantageous to sign up for membership separately, please contact for more information.
