RYA Sailing Courses at Covenham Sailing Club

Level 1 - Start Sailing

1. Dates: 6th and 13th June (Two-day course; attendance required on both days)
2. Duration: 2 days
3. Time: 09:00 to approximately 17:00 each day
4. Prerequisites: None
5. Minimum Age: 16
6. Course Content: Introduction to sailing fundamentals, including sailing in various directions, launching, and recovery under supervision.
7. Outcome: Ability to sail in light winds under supervision.

Level 2 - Basic Sailing

1. Dates: 20th and 27th June (Two-day course)
2. Duration: 2 days
3. Time: 09:00 to approximately 17:00 each day
4. Prerequisites: Sailing skills equivalent to Level 1
5. Minimum Age: 16
6. Course Content: Rigging, launching, sailing in all directions, capsize recovery, and essential safety knowledge.
7. Outcome: Proficiency in sailing in light winds.

Course Details:

1. All necessary equipment provided except for footwear/gloves (old trainers are suitable).
2. Courses may be affected by weather and can be cancelled at short notice if conditions are unsuitable for beginners.

Cost:

1. Level 1 or Level 2: £130 each
2. Booking both courses simultaneously provides a discount on Covenham Sailing Club membership for the remainder of the year.

Payment:

1. Card payment at start of course or bank transfer

Note: Attendance on both days of each course is mandatory for certification. The Level 1 course introduces beginners to sailing, while Level 2 builds on previously acquired skills.
