Towards Sea Kayak Award
30 & 31 May 2026
This 2-day course is designed to make you a more confident and safer paddler and progress you towards British Canoeing Awarding Body’s Sea Kayak Award. Working at your own pace, you will review and practise a wide range of paddle strokes and skills including towing, in a supportive team environment. You will develop a toolbox of safety and rescue techniques including self-rescue. You will plan and undertake a journey taking into consideration weather and tide - time to test your skills in action and become a valued paddling partner. If you have successfully achieved all the required skills during the course, you can be signed off for the Sea Kayak Award. If you have some skills gaps, you will receive practical feedback on areas on development needed and how to move forward. Dress warmly and bring spare clothes, drinks, snacks and lunch plus any safety kit you normally carry.
Cost: £150 for the 2 days payable to Dartmouth Yacht Club (tickets and payments via Dartmouth Yacht Club’s Web Collect). Venue: Coronation Park, Dartmouth. Times: 9.30am-4pm each day.
