The Devon and Exeter Institution is a thriving independent library and educational charity with a rich history. We offer a varied programme of events including talks, creative workshops and activities for adults and children all inspired by our collections.

Free Guided Tours take place every Wednesday afternoon from 1.00-4.00pm. Our guides love sharing their knowledge and enthusiasm for our heritage building and collections with local residents and visitors from all over the world.

Membership
New members
If you are signing up online, please scroll down and select BOTH a) the membership type you require, and b) the one-off joining fee of £15, if applicable, and then proceed to the checkout.
You will then be asked to create a WebCollect account. Our WebCollect database is a vital part of how we manage our membership and keep in touch with you, so please ensure that you fill in as much information as possible.
You are also able to sign up via a paper membership form at the front desk, if you prefer and we will set your Webcollect account up for you.
Please do consider paying for your membership by Direct Debit, as this comes with a number of benefits both for you and us.
All our memberships are renewable annually. We will contact you by email before your membership is due to expire to remind you to renew it (unless you pay by Direct Debit, in which case it will be renewed automatically until cancelled).
Your new membership will be valid as soon you have heard from us welcoming you to the Institution, which will happen once we have received your payment.
