We are a sailing club, affiliated to the RYA, that welcomes families and individuals new to sailing or experienced. We provide training and coaching for adults and young people, to develop skills towards taking part in the club racing programme and beyond.

Dovestone Sailing Club has sole use of the almost 100 acre reservoir at Greenfield near Oldham. It is set amid dramatic scenery in the PEAK DISTRICT NATIONAL PARK off the A635 Greenfield to Holmfirth Road, via Banks Lane. It is approximately half a mile from the Clarence Hotel at the junction of Chew Valley Road and Manchester Road, Greenfield.

Flying Fifteen Open Meeting and Social Evening - 9 & 10 May 2026

Dovestone SC hosts it's 2026 Flying Fifteen Open Meeting on Saturday and Sunday 9 & 10 May 2026. Cost of entry is £50 per boat, which includes admission for two to our evening social, including a two course meal. Additional members, guests and visitors can book in for the social evening at a cost of £10 per adult and £5 for 18 and under.

Discover Sailing

We're holding our annual Discover Sailing open day on Saturday 16 May 2026. If you've ever thought of taking up sailing, or returning to sailing after a break, this is a chance to get out on the water for a 30 minute trial sail with one of our experienced sailors. Cost is £10 per person. If you enjoy it and would like to take it further we'll be on hand to give you more information about club membership and our RYA Dinghy Sailing courses.

RYA Dinghy Training and Youth Sailing Scheme courses

RYA Dinghy Adult Level 1 4 & 5 July 2026

RYA Dinghy Adult Level 2 5 & 6 September 2026

We expect to be able to run some RYA Youth Sailing Scheme courses, dates to be advised in due course.

The cost of an RYA Dinghy Adult two-day training course is £125 for club members, or £175 for non-members.

We also run RYA Powerboat Level 2 courses for club members only.

Booking is not yet open for 2026 training courses. We prioritise places for new club members. If you'd like to learn to sail at Dovestone please register your interest and receive more information on joining the sailing club by contacting us at info@dovestonesc.org.uk.

If you want to get onto a RYA course before these dates you may be able to find availability at other RYA Training Centres in the region.
