We are a sailing club, affiliated to the RYA, that welcomes families and individuals new to sailing or experienced. We provide training and coaching for adults and young people, to develop skills towards taking part in the club racing programme and beyond.

Dovestone Sailing Club has sole use of the almost 100 acre reservoir at Greenfield near Oldham. It is set amid dramatic scenery in the PEAK DISTRICT NATIONAL PARK off the A635 Greenfield to Holmfirth Road, via Banks Lane. It is approximately half a mile from the Clarence Hotel at the junction of Chew Valley Road and Manchester Road, Greenfield.

We welcome new members to the club. New members will be checked and approved by our Exec Committee.

Event News  

We have First Aid training on Saturday 8 March for our dinghy instructors with additional places available for other club members at £10, or non-member price of £60. We have two places still available, so please book quickly to guarantee your spot.

RYA Dinghy Training and Youth Sailing Scheme courses are available to book now.

Our first RYA Level 1 and 2 course is on 29/30 March and is available to book now by both members and non-members, using the link at top right of this page.

Remaining courses are currently only available for club members to book, any remaining places will be released to the public at a later time. If you'd like to learn to sail and are interested in joining the sailing club please contact us at info@dovestonesc.org.uk for more information.

We will have an informal Wednesday evening social on Wednesday 12 March ahead of the start of the sailing season, from around 6.30-7pm with some snacks available, and bar will be open. No need to book in advance.

Our 2025 sailing programme gets under way on Sunday 16 March with the first three races in the Spring Series.
