17th & 18th April 2027 - Adult Start Sailing Course
The RYA (Royal Yachting Association) is the UK’s national governing body for all forms of boating. It has the aim of providing the world’s best recreational and professional boat training schemes.
Earlswood Lakes Sailing Club is an accredited RYA training centre, inspected annually to ensure that we continue to deliver training that meets the RYA’s exacting standards. We concentrate on introducing newcomers to our much loved sport/hobby of sailing so our training programme is focused on teaching complete novices the basic skills needed to sail a dinghy. We then help and encourage them to develop and use their skills as they gain experience. Those attending will receive club membership to the end of the club year, 31st May 2028, giving access to our club boats which, after a period of free boat hire, are available to hire with rates of £10 - £15 depending on the dinghy type hired and the duration of hire.
Following the course, we also have lots of events throughout the year to help new sailors progress, gain confidence and choose which direction they'd like to take their sailing journey in, be that racing, cruising or seamanship.
We run at least three Start Sailing Courses each year for beginners, both adults and juniors. This course is designed by the RYA to introduce you to sailing, with all you need to know to get afloat under supervision. It runs over a weekend with 16 hours of tuition, most of which is on the water. These take place in spring and early summer to give plenty of time to practise skills during the warmer months.
Successful completion of the Level 1 course is rewarded with a RYA certificate and a logbook so you can track your progress as you develop your skill and enthusiasm.
If you have any questions or would like further information, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
