Back on The Water. Sunday 8th March
This is the opportunity to book a one hour (or multiples thereof) slot with one of our RYA instructors on the Back on the Water event 2026 at a cost of £5 per hour. The instructor you'll work with will depend on the skills that you would like training on. You can advise us on the day what you'd like to focus on and we'll put you with the most suitable trainer, but as a suggestion, we've given you the following topics that you may want to use as guidance.
Basic Sailing Tuition- boat specific.
- Rigging
- Launching
- Building confidence sailing in all directions
- Sailing essentials
- Specific boat technique (e.g. managing with a rear main on an Enterprise)
Start Racing
- Basic racing skills
- Helping to improve the key principles of Line bias and the first beat
- Stopping and hovering
- Roll tacks and gybes
- Adapting the rig and sail settings
Seamanship Skills:
- Launching and recovering the boat in different circumstances
- Stopping
- Reducing sail
- Recovering a man overboard
- Picking up a mooring
- Anchoring
If you'd like to book more than one hour, just add the first time slot to your basket, select the next time slot, then check out. We're happy for you to book a trainer slot with another person (one trainer and two trainees), so if you regularly sail with a partner, just book once and they're welcome to join you at no additional cost. If you're booking for another member of your family group and want a trainer each at the same time, select the time slot and increase the number of tickets accordingly.
