Learn to Kayak with GKC – Adult Beginner Courses
Ready to explore Galway's beautiful waterways, have fun, and meet new friends? Our Adult Beginner Kayak Courses are perfect for anyone eager to learn kayaking in a safe and supportive environment!
Course Overview
Our experienced and qualified instructors will teach you how to kayak safely while having fun on the Upper Corrib.
Location: Steamers Quay, Riverside, Woodquay, H91 FH61, Galway.
Duration: Sessions run from 6:30 PM to approximately 8:30 PM (We aim to be out of the water around 8:30 pm each evening, but this can stretch to 9pm so make sure to plan enough time).
Assessment: The course includes an assessment for the Canoeing Ireland Level 2 Kayaking Certificate (Missing multiple sessions may affect your ability to pass. The assessment takes place during the final session).
Swimming Requirement: Participants must be able to swim 25m.
What’s Provided?
All kayaking gear: boats, paddles, helmets, and buoyancy aids.
On-site facilities: car and bike parking, changing rooms, and hot showers.
What to Bring
Old runners or water booties (must be worn on the water).
Suitable clothing for the water: A long-sleeve wetsuit (recommended as you’ll get wet during some sessions). For warmer days, a synthetic athletic tops, shorts, or tracksuit bottoms will be suitable (avoid cotton).
A towel and change of dry clothes for after the session.
Cancellation & Refund Policy
Cancellations must be made at least one week before the course start date for a refund.
Refunds cannot be issued after this deadline.
