Learn to Paddle course
Want to paddle but don’t know how?
You should take our Learn To Paddle Course – this runs for 8 weeks and will take you through all the basic skills to manoeuvre your kayak and keep yourself safe on the water
This Learn to Paddle course is for those aged 10 and over that are new to the sport and have completed a taster session with the club.
The course includes the use of a kayak, paddle and relevant safety equipment (Buoyancy aid, helmet, windproof jacket). You need to bring suitable clothes to get wet in (including shoes), a towel, and dry clothes to go home in. The club has changing rooms, toilet and showers. We'll send you full details before the start of your course.
These sessions are on a Saturday morning 10am - 12noon, starting on 26th April.
Cost: Free, but you must be a club member. so as well as booking a place on this course please also sign up for a membership through our online system (see 'subscriptions')
Membership fees for the year (2024/25) are as follows:
- An Adult Membership is £52.50
- A Family Membership is £90.00 (2 adults + all U18s or full-time students U23 in the household)
- A Junior (U18) Membership is £40
- Concessions (long term unemployed and adult students in full time education) is £40
Each adult that does not have an Individual Paddle UK Membership will also have to add a Paddle UK Affiliation (extra £2.20). This fee pays for your insurance whilst on club activities.
