IOS Round the Island Race is the longest running race of it's kind open to dinghies and multihulls racing 40 miles round the Isle of Sheppey.. Starting at Sheerness, capsizing the boats at the Kingsferry Bridge and returning to Sheerness.
This race is for experience sailors. Sailors should be able to sail there boat efficiently and navigate the hazards in sea, river and estuary conditions. There may not be a safety boat in your vicinity so crews should be able to rely on their own resources at all times. Open to all classes of dinghies and catamarans. All boats will carry a tracker provided by TracTrac and a mobile phone is recommended.
Under 18s must have an adult in their boat or a dedicated safety boat with them.
Please make sure you read the Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions before you enter, this year there are some changes which is aimed to increase the level of safety for competitors.
There will be racing 'round the cans at the club' on the Saturday and the Island Race on the Sunday. The Saturday racing is put on free of charge and is separate to the Island Race. If you only want to compete in the Island Race then this is absolutely fine. The results will not be combined in any way.
The club kitchen will be open all weekend to provide meals, snacks and drinks.
Entry Price will be £55 before 1st September and £110 after. Entry will close at 23.59 on 9th September.
No entries will be accespted on the day due to safety reasons.
