RYA First aid course
Led by Adrian Langford, RYA First aid instructor and paramedic. Covering all aspects of first aid and in relation to water sports. Message from Adrian;
Please be at the clubhouse by 9:15am for a prompt start at 9:30.
Can you please bring your own lunch? There will be coffee, tea and biscuits provided.
It’s a busy day, with a lot of material to cover, though I will fit in a short lunch break and some coffee breaks.
In order to keep you all as comfortable as possible, can I suggest you wear clothing that’s easy to move around in, also a camping mat or something similar to lie / kneel on as we’ll be doing some work on the floor? We might do a short spell outdoors, so it’s a good idea to bring a waterproof. You may be pleased (or disappointed) to know that there will not be any activities on the water.
It would be great if you could bring a couple of bits of old clothing / cloths you might think would make an improvised emergency bandage or dressing - after all, a lot of us don’t have a first aid kit on our boats / windsurfers / paddle boards!
I will bring along all the equipment we need - mannequins, training defibrillator, bandages etc. There is a workbook provided, as well as some projected content.
I’ll do my best to get us finished by 4.30pm, but please be prepared for us to overrun, as the course has a lot of material, and I’m sure we'll find a lot to talk about!
