Absolute Beginner Course in Beekeeping (ABC) — January 2026

Beekeeping is a wonderful hobby. It takes you outdoors, gets you up close to nature, stretches the little grey cells, and introduces you to like‑minded people and new friendships. That said, knowing where to start can feel daunting — and that’s exactly where our Absolute Beginner Course in Beekeeping (ABC) helps.

Every January, our in‑house expert Julian leads the Lanarkshire Beekeepers ABC, giving you the knowledge and confidence to begin your beekeeping journey.

Course Schedule (All sessions held online via Zoom)

1. ABC Session 1: The Honey Bee — 13 January 2026
2. ABC Session 2: Beekeeping Equipment — 27 January 2026
3. ABC Practical Workshop 1: 7 February 2026 (in person)
4. ABC Session 3: The Beekeeper’s Year — 10 February 2026
5. ABC Session 4: Preparing the Apiary — 24 February 2026
6. ABC Practical Workshop 2: 28 February 2026 (in person)
7. ABC Session 5: Swarming — 10 March 2026
8. ABC Session 6: Keeping Bees Healthy— 24 March 2026

Course Fees

1. Under 18s: Free when learning with an adult or as part of a household (we welcome young people with open arms).
2. Individual adult: £65
3. Household: £80 (two adults + under 18s)
4. University students: £35
5. Schools / Institutions:First teacher: £50
6. Second teacher: £35
7. Three or more staff from the same school: £105
