Swarm collection donation   iCal entry for this event

Swarming is a natural process in the life cycle of honey bees, serving as a means for colonies to reproduce.

While a swarm may appear alarming or be seen as a nuisance to the public, it is generally harmless if left undisturbed. Swarms can occur at any time, but they typically happen between April and the end of June.

All beekeepers have a duty of care to manage their colonies responsibly and minimise the risk of swarming becoming a public concern.

Lanarkshire Beekeeper members voluntarily collect bee swarms to help keep the public safe and support the management of the honey bee population.

Lanarkshire Beekeepers is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO), registered in Scotland — SCIO number SC051101. We are committed to honeybee education, promoting bee health, and developing the art of beekeeping in Lanarkshire.
