Following the Government's COVID-19 guidance on 16th March, this event will not take place as planned.

We will review whether it is cancelled or postponed to a later date in the coming days and weeks.

We will be in touch with anyone who has pre-entered. Please contact us via the email link below if you need further guidance.

For anyone visitors who's boat is at Leigh and Lowton, we will make arrangements for it to be collected.

 

1. Rules

The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing

 

2.  Fees

Entry fees are:

£25 (£20 for Youths) online entry at http://webcollect.org.uk/llsc  (Online entry closes Thursday 19th March 23:59)

£35 cash on the day

Saturday Evening Curry and pudding  £8 per head when bought with online entry. £10 cash on the day (subject to availability)

For Vegetarian and other dietary requirements, please notify Martin Tubb as soon as possible and no later than 19th March.

 

 

3.  Schedule

Registration: from 11.00 on Saturday.  Briefing: 12:00 on Saturday

Saturday: Warning Signal for race 1: 1255, races 2 & 3 to follow

Sunday: Warning Signal for race 4: 1025, races 5 & 6 to follow.

The expected schedule is that the second and third race each day will be back to back.

 

 

4. Sailing Instructions

Copies of Sailing Instructions will be displayed at registration and available online.

 

5. Courses

The courses to be sailed will be described in the sailing instructions.

 

6. Venue

The location of Leigh and Lowton Sailing Club is Green Lane, Off Sandy Lane, Lowton, Warrington. WA3 1BJ.

Directions to the club can be found on the club website www.llsc.org.uk.

The racing area will be on Pennington Flash.

The Galley will be open on Saturday for lunch and an evening Curry.

The Galley will be open on Sunday for Breakfast and lunch.

 

7. Scoring

2 races are required to constitute a series.

When fewer than 4 races have been completed a boat’s series score will be the total of all her race scores.

When 4 or more races have been completed a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores, excluding her worst score.

 

8. Insurance

Each participating boat will be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of at least £3,000,000.

 

9. Risk Statement

Rule 4 of the Racing Rules of Sailing states: “The responsibility for a boat’s decision to participate in a race or to continue racing is hers alone.”

Sailing is by its nature an unpredictable sport and therefore inherently involves an element of risk. By taking part in the event, each competitor agrees and acknowledges that:

(a) They are aware of the inherent element of risk involved in the sport and accept responsibility for the exposure of themselves, their crew and their boat to such inherent risk whilst taking part in the event;

(b) They are responsible for the safety of themselves, their crew, their boat and their other property whether afloat or ashore;

(c) They accept responsibility for any injury, damage or loss to the extent caused by their own actions or omissions;

(d) Their boat is in good order, equipped to sail in the event and they are fit to participate;

(e) The provision of a race management team, patrol boats and other officials and volunteers by the event organiser does not relieve them of their own responsibilities;

(f) The provision of patrol boat cover is limited to such assistance, particularly in extreme weather conditions, as can be practically provided in the circumstances;

 

10. Cancellation

If cancellation is required due to weather or any other unforeseen event, then where possible this will be notified via the llsc.org.uk website prior to the first day of the event.
