RS Qba Booking
The LSTA training boats can be used to help develop sailing skills by approved members of Largs Sailing Club in the following categories;
- Individual
- Family
- Junior
The use of the boats can be secured by online booking and paying the appropriate fee. The income generated will be used in the maintenance, repair and improvement of the boats. The following guidelines for use should be followed:
- LSTA boats are only available to use during organised club activities while safety cover is available.
- LSTA activities take precedence over boat hire so please be aware that on some occasions hire may not be possible.
- LSTA boats are not to be used as an easy option if it is too windy for you to sail your own boat.
- Required Experience users must meet the minimum experience levels for each boat type.
- Single handers (RS Qba, Topper) a minimum of RYA National Sailing Scheme Level 2 or RYA Youth Sailing Scheme Stage 3.
- Double handers (RS Vision, RS Quest, RS Feva) a minimum of RYA National Sailing Scheme Level 2 or RYA Youth Sailing Scheme Stage 4.
- Asymmetric spinnakers and Feva race mainsails are additional hire items and the user must have appropriate training or experience.
- Experienced sailors who do not have the above qualification may use the boats if they receive confirmation from the LSTA Centre Principal or Chief Instructor
- For members unfamiliar with kit storage and rigging the LSTA boats they must arrange for familiarisation with an LSTA instructor.
- Prior to use the hirer should inspect the boat and note any defects, if these deem the boat unsuitable for use then an alternate boat of the same type should be selected and any defects should be noted in the defects book located in the office.
- All club boats are covered by insurance for 3rd party loss and damage including racing risks insurance.
- The hirer will be responsible for the cost of the insurance excess if damage repair is funded through an insurance claim. The hirer will continue to be responsible for the cost of damage repair up to the value of the excess where no insurance claim was processed. This excludes minor damage due to wear and tear.
- All members hiring club boats do so at their own risk and must adhere to the club procedures and any instructions from the activity organiser. The final decision as to whether you take a boat out will be up to you. You should sail within your own ability and take note of the weather forecast and sea conditions.
- If a booked hire is not able to be completed due to weather conditions, or boat defects then a refund, or alternative date can be requested.
Agreement with Terms
I understand that in hiring a club boat I undertake to follow the guidelines, terms and conditions in this hire agreement. I accept my responsibilities to look after the boat and equipment in a careful manner.
Where the hirer is less than 18 years of age the Parent/Guardian accepts responsibility for the boat and will retain sole responsibility for their sailor. A Parent/Guardian will be present at all times whilst their child is sailing one of the club boats.
