Safety Boat Update
This one day update reinforces the skills that you may have already learnt on a RYA safety boat course.
We would expect people doing this course to have completed a PB2 course, and have at least 6 months experience volunteering on a club Safety Boat.
Starting at 9:30am on the Saturday and running till 5pm.
The day will consist of a classroom based discussion on the role of a safety boat, rescue techniques, mark laying and working as part of a training / race management team at club level followed by an on the water session rescuing single handed dinghies and windsurfers.
There will be also be a practical session with opportunities to practice rescuing , double handers, boats with spinnakers/trapeze and catamarans.
What you will need
- Waterproofs & Warm Clothing
- Dinghy Sailing Kit (if you have it)
- Buoyancy aid
A copy of the RYA Safety Boat Handbook is recommended but not required. We have some spares.
