Course Breakdown:
We run groups based on experience level, ensuring everyone gets the most out of their time on the water. The general splits will be as below but will be dependent on the mix of experience each week.
RYA Stage 1 - Beginners
Perfect for newcomers to sailing! Learn the basics, including boat parts, how to launch, recover, and steer. By the end of the course, you'll understand sailing principles and be ready to progress to Stage 2. No prior sailing experience needed!
RYA Stage 2 - Basic Skills
Build on your Stage 1 skills by learning about points of sailing, rigging, launching, tacking, and gybing. Improve boat control and boost your confidence as you advance to the next level.
RYA Stage 3 - Better Sailing
Take your sailing to the next level! Master practical boat control techniques like man overboard, coming alongside, and picking up a mooring. Plus, start learning about tides, weather, and boat control to enhance your knowledge and skills.
Skills Development
For those who have already reached Stage 3 there is the opportunity to work towards other areas of sailing such as racing or seamanship or sailing with spinnakers. This will depend on the group interests and will be flexible through the week aiming to build skills and confidence.
