Thursday Cadet Training Evenings 2025
Please book here for the 2025 Thursday Evening Sessions for ages 8 up to around 12. There will be groups with a mix of abilities from complete beginners to honing skills. Training will be split into two blocks with the first block focussing on introducing skills and techniques, and the second block focussing on developing those skills in a fun and safe environment.
- Block 1 - 24th April to 26th June
- Block 2 - 3rd July to 28th August
You don't need to have any previous sailing experience but we recommend that complete beginners also sign up for the YSS1 course scheduled for 3rd/4th of May as this will give them a boost in sailing time and help progress their season.
Training Details:
- 25th April - Introduction evening (Shore Based)
- 2nd May to 22nd August - Evening Sailing
- Start Time 18:15 In Sailing Kit
- Finish Time 20:30
The LSTA has some wetsuits and buoyancy aids that can be used during the evening sessions but if you are able to get some of your own equipment it can save time and make things easier. There is often a kit swap at the start of the season where kit that has been grown out of gets passed down.
The split between Monday and Thursday will be porous so if your cadet is close to the split, or to keep with friends / siblings please message so we can work out the best option.
Booking Requirements:
- The participant MUST be a Largs Sailing Club member (either as a junior or part of a family membership)
- You can join or renew your membership subscription at https://www.webcollect.org.uk/largssc
- All Cadets should be 8 years and over and be able to swim unaided 50m.
- Cadets 12 and older are recommended to book the Monday Cadet session, however this is not an absolute rule so if you would prefer a different evening to keep with friends or siblings then please contact us to discuss.
